HI All:
Don't miss this opportunity to participate in "Leading in the Middle", the
next CLC/OCLC Direct training session from OCLC Eastern. You can sign up
online at:
http://www.ctlibrarians.org/services/oclctraining.html#oclccalCalendar
"Leading in the Middle" was first designed as a two day workshop, but I've
convinced the trainer to re-design it for a one day workshop. Why? Because I
know that all of you supervisors, directors, department heads, and everyone
else caught between two (or more) bosses and many more employees find it
hard enough to get away for even one day, let alone two!
But please, I encourage you to take this one day to explore with your peers
the unique perspective of middle leaders.
The workshop focus will be:
Your unique strengths as a leader
How your natural preferences inform your leadership role
How to expand your capacity as a leader
Implications for leading in transforming library systems
Competencies for leading through change
Topics covered include:
Distinguishing between leadership and management
Identifying critical competencies through several contemporary models of
leadership
Defining the unique role of the middle leader
Understanding and working with type - including how we approach our work,
how we lead others, and natural preferences for communication
Focusing on the future and aligning with strategy
Working with organizational climate
