Generation 4.0 - The New Age of the Library Workforce - March 17th (Middletown LSC)
In this workshop we will explore the four generations (Traditionalists, Baby Boomers, Generation X, Generation Y) that are currently working in our libraries (and utilizing our services!). From Traditionalists to Generation Y, we will examine the challenges and benefits of a multi-generational workforce - who we are, what we want out of a job, and why we don't always understand each other. We'll also examine our own assumptions, learn that generations may not be based solely on dates, and explore ways to work better together.
Redesigning Newsletters in Microsoft Publisher - March 18th (Middletown LSC)
Are you happy with your newsletter? Could it benefit from a fresh look? In this y workshop, we'll be exploring the elements of good newsletter design. We will intersperse our discussion of design with hands-on applications of what we have learned. We will help you understand the impact of white space, fonts, numbers of columns and color.
Library Space Planning Guide Workshop - March 19th (Willimantic LSC)
This workshop will help you calculate new space requirements. By the close of the workshop, you will have a rough square-footage figure for your library's needs. Workshop participants will go home with a computer disk with an Excel version of the spreadsheet. The workshop will take you step-by-step through the Library Space Planning Guide, a State Library Publication.
