Essential Cataloging for Local History & Genealogy Collections - Apr. 25th (WLSC)
Local history and genealogy collections are special. Even though the cataloging rules are the same as for a library's regular collection, there are additional considerations. The organization of the material and the classification scheme need to be re-evaluated in light of the unique needs of the customers using this collection as well as additional notes that a cataloger might not usually encounter. We will examine a variety of published and unpublished items: books, pamphlets, manuscripts, scrapbooks and vertical files as well as photocopies and microfilm.
