The following continuing education workshops have been scheduled for

CDs, DVDs and Videocassettes: Cataloging Basics - May 6th (Groton PL)
This workshop will focus on the basic descriptive cataloging of CDs,
DVDs, and videocassettes. We will look at relevant AACR2 applications
(Anglo-American Cataloguing Rules), MARC coding (MAchine-Readable
Cataloging), and other resources specific to these formats.

ADA and Library Buildings - May 9th (Welles Turner Memorial,
Glastonbury)
Some topics to be covered in the workshop include: Exterior issues such
as accessible parking, curb cuts and ramps. Interior issues such as
doors, stairways, floor surfaces, accessible routes and much, much more.
FrontPage Pt. 1 & 2 - May 7th & 21st (Middletown LSC)
In the first part of the workshop, we'll explore the creation and
development of a web site using FrontPage. We'll help you understand
how to design a web page and the elements that can be included. Part twp
of the workshop is designed for those that need to know more about web
design. We'll be inserting forms and getting the form fields ready for
useable feedback. We'll continue our discussion about images, including
creating hotspots on images and much, much more.

Dreamweaver CS3 Part 1 & Part 2 - May 12th & May 15th (Bristol PL)
Macromedia Dreamweaver CS3 is a powerful web design software that
allows beginners to create professional looking web sites. Topics will
include: text editing, creating links, using tables for layout, creating
templates and much more. This two- day workshop is intended to be taken
in order. The topics covered in part 2 will build on the topics covered
in part 2.

What's that thing!? Learn about the devices your patrons may ask you
about or are bringing into your library! This workshop will provide a
quick, but detailed overview of electronic products and software that
are growing in popularity and that will impact your library.

Digital Media & Your Library - May 16th (Middletown LSC)
This workshop explores how you, your patrons, and libraries are getting
their music, movies, podcasts, audiobooks, videos, games, and more!
We'll review the options for consumers and librarians, the current
trends, and what the future hold for libraries. Questions and audience
participation encouraged!

State Public Library Construction Grant Workshop - May 20th (Middletown
LSC)
Does your library: Lack handicapped accessibility? Need a new building
or an addition? Need to renovate? Fail to meet building codes?
Need to remodel or Need to do energy conservation measures? Then
consider applying for a State Public Library Construction Grant.
Guidelines and applications for the 2008-09 Grant Program will be
distributed at the workshop.
